The goverment funded Strategic Highway Research Project determined the method for least failure rate of crack repairs. It is the method of thoroughly cleaning and routing out debris in a crack, applying hot rubberized sealant at a temperature between 350 to 400 degrees using the over seal band method. This is a method used by Driveway Doctor.

The over seal band method can be performed with this steel kettle called the "bander" (for residential or commercial) or with a giant kettle called a "melter" (for parking lots or industrial areas).

The major structural cracks are treated with the hot rubberized crack sealant.

While hot rubber is the most durable method and industry standard, it is not an appropriate repair method for every type of crack. Hot rubber can detract from the appearance of the pavement. Hot rubber can also cause tracking in the hot weather. Driveway Doctor, unlike other contractors, provides a second method of crack repair for the less severe cracks. It is a rubberized crack sealant that can be applied with a squeegee or trowel.
